San Diego

By Anna Lynn Sibal

San Diego is one of the largest cities in California, as well as one of the most visited. That is hardly surprising because San Diego has a lot to offer its visitors, whether these visitors are traveling alone, with a partner, with family or with a group.

The primary attraction that San Diego has for its visitors is its beaches. There are miles of beaches in San Diego, with a coastline facing the Pacific Ocean, and these beaches can be enjoyed all year round. Like most of the southern regions of California, San Diego enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, which makes the weather sunny for most of the year, even if it is a little cold in the winter months. Rainfall varies in San Diego and snow is almost unheard of. San Diego is the perfect getaway for beach lovers and surfers.

There are many beach resorts in San Diego, and each beach has its own distinct offerings for visitors to San Diego, depending on what these visitors want to do. Mission Beach, for one, is great for family getaways because of its well-maintained volleyball nets and because it has some carnival rides that kids will enjoy. Another beach that is good for beach holidays with the family is Coronado Beach. The water there is calm and gentle, great for taking the kids swimming.

For couples on a romantic getaway, Mission Beach is also an option. Lovers can walk hand in hand on the boardwalk and watch the sunset. La Jolla Beach is also good for a relaxing stroll on the sand by the sea. For a true romantic getaway, the place to go is Coronado Beach.

Surfing is a regular pastime for many residents in San Diego. One of the best surfing places in San Diego is the Windansea Beach. Even naturists have a place to bare it all in San Diego while worshipping the sun and that is none other than the Blacks Beach.

As much as its beaches are San Diego’s primary attraction, there are other places worth visiting in San Diego. A visit to San Diego must include a stroll through Balboa Park, the centerpiece of San Diego. It is home to many magnificent gardens such as the Japanese Friendship Garden and the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden, as well as to museums like the Museum of Man and the San Diego Museum of Art.

SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo are also places that visitors must see in San Diego. SeaWorld is a marine mammal park that is famous for its shows, which feature sea lions, dolphins and killer whales. The San Diego Zoo is one of the best and the largest zoos in the United States, and it houses many creatures that are not found in most zoos in the United States, such as giant pandas and koalas.

For a night about town, some of the best places to go in San Diego are the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy. Both these spots are located downtown.

It is not surprising that San Diego is one of the most visited cities in California, if not in the United States. There are just so much to see and to do here.
